The state of Nevada is slowly reopening casinos. The state has begun reopening casinos in Reno, Nevada, which is the second largest gambling city in the country. The state is also beginning to open restaurants in the casinos. However, the state has implemented strict new regulations, including social-distancing rules. This will likely delay the reopening of the Las Vegas casinos.

Other tribal casinos may soon open, too. Harrah’s in Cherokee, North Carolina, is taking a different approach. In the meantime, sports bookies can resume betting. In fact, William Hill has been given permission to operate drive-thru kiosks in certain areas. During UFC 249, pop-up kiosks took bets.

New York City is an attractive location for a casino, but the glut of casinos in the city has dampened economic forecasts. However, it’s a dense, affluent city with a huge international travel destination. However, lawmakers in Manhattan don’t want a casino in Midtown.

Although states are beginning to loosen their rules and regulations after the COVID-19 pandemic, Nevada has a high unemployment rate. However, officials have made progress and have agreed to allow the casinos to reopen on June 4. Hopefully, the gamblers will be back. If so, casinos in Nevada will continue to thrive.

Developers have put forward several projects for a new casino. Local politicians must approve the project. In addition, MGM and Genting already operate racinos in Queens and Yonkers and hope to upgrade their facilities to full-scale casinos. There’s no set timeline for the new casino to open, but it could take as long as three years to build and open.

Applicants will undergo a background investigation and receive their license to operate a casino. Generally, the licenses will be issued in spring or summer 2022. If a casino is approved, the state’s first casino will open in the city in the state. If the project goes smoothly, the casino will open within 12-18 months.

The last casino in the Reno-Sparks area to be built from scratch was the Silver Legacy. The Silver Legacy opened in 1995. Legends Bay was originally planned to be a $500 million hotel-casino project, but the project was delayed several times. Eventually, the casino will include 650 slot machines and table games.

The casino project isn’t a “done deal.” It needs to be approved by the city council and the Illinois Gaming Board. It will be built on the site of the Tribune Publishing Center. Its new building will be 300-rooms and eight restaurants. There will also be a casino with 2,600 slot machines and 165 gaming tables.

The proposed expansion of the casinos will have a large impact on the city’s economy. The city’s casinos have historically drawn visitors from New York City and the suburbs. The State Gaming Commission is now seeking requests for information and would announce actual bids in January. The state would have to approve the proposed casinos before December 2023.
